Making Time For Exercise In Your Already Hectic Life

Women now, are more generally more aware of their health, and it really doesn’t matter if you’re a career person or a homemaker, keeping fit and eating the right food, should be at the top of the list of things that you need to do. We all go through ups and downs in our lives, and experience mood swings from time to time, and the best way to make sure that you’re looking good, and feeling great, is to engage in exercise on a regular basis. The World Health Organisation suggests that women need to do a minimum of 30 minutes of exercise five days a week, and if you can squeeze in more than this, then all the better.

When many women think of health care, they think of yearly visits to the doctor with the various blood tests needed to make sure that everything is as it should be. However, waiting for your doctor to tell you that everything is okay, is not being proactive, but you do have control over your diet and your exercise regime. Exercise does take effort, time, and a lot of self-discipline, but it is worth it. Here are some of the benefits to women that exercise offers.

It helps with mood swings – As women, we do go through various different moods depending on our menstrual cycle, and we suffer from decreases in our oestrogen levels, which causes us to feel a little bit down. We find ourselves more susceptible to bouts of depression and anxiety, but exercise helps to balance out these mood swings. Exercise helps to increase endorphins which make us feel much happier, and very relaxed, after we exercise.
  • It prevents bone loss – As females, we are more susceptible to developing osteoporosis and other bone issues, as we get older. One way to ensure that we have strong bones, is to go through a regular exercise routine, and the younger you start, the better. Any exercise that promotes stronger muscles like hiking, or jogging, helps to keep our bones strong. Some weight bearing exercises are excellent for flexibility and strength.
  • It helps to control weight – It is more difficult for women to burn calories as they get older, because their muscle mass reduces as the years go by. Exercise can help women to build and maintain muscle, and this will help them to look better and feel better. Regular exercise can also help to burn those extra calories that would normally be stored as fat.

Undertaking a regular exercise routine will help you, if you’re finding it difficult to fall asleep at night. It’s difficult to find the time to exercise, but you only have to squeeze in 10 minutes here and there every day, to burn fat and increase muscle. It’s all about motivating yourself to get out there, and become more active.
